Get paired. Keep running.
Quick answers for the free Shoe Mileage beta.
Last updated 24 August 2026Connect a Garmin watch
- Add at least one active pair in Shoe Mileage.
- Open the Garmin page and create a 10-minute pairing code.
- In Garmin Connect, open Shoe Mileage settings and enter the code.
- Press Back, then sync your watch in Garmin Connect.
- Open Shoe Mileage on the watch once. Your shoes should appear automatically.
Nothing appeared after a run
- Save the running activity and allow Garmin to show its stats first.
- The prompt is scheduled for about 15 seconds after Garmin reports the saved run.
- Open Shoe Mileage on the watch if the prompt has not appeared; your cached shoes work without a phone or Wi-Fi.
- Check that Garmin Connect can reach the internet and try Refresh shoes.
- If you chose shoes while offline, the run stays safely queued on the watch and uploads later.
Do I have to sign in every time?
No. Shoe Mileage remembers the same browser or installed Home Screen app for up to one year. The long recovery key is only a backup for a different phone, a different browser, private browsing, or cleared website data.
Wrong shoes or wrong distance
Open Run history on the website and choose a different pair from the run. Shoe totals update immediately. Shoe Mileage reads the latest saved running activity available to the Connect IQ app; test activities can therefore show zero distance.
Recovery and deletion
Use your recovery key to reopen an account on another phone. A temporary watch code is not a recovery key. To erase everything, use the in-app delete control or follow the deletion instructions.
